Dr. Johnson performs the full-scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including minor and major office-based surgery (basic oral surgery, surgery for impacted teeth, dental implants and bone grafting) , reconstructive jaw surgery /
orthognathic surgery, surgical management of maxillofacial pathology (jaw cysts and tumors), maxillofacial trauma , and infection management.
In addition to seeing private patients at Hamden-Shoreline OMS Associates , Dr. Johnson is full-time faculty at Yale-New-Haven Hospital where he serves as the Program Director for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Training Program.
Dr. Johnson has been involved in various research projects and has mentored multiple Yale residents in their research resulting in publications and presentations at national meetings.
Dr. Johnson routinely lectures on topics that include head and neck history and physical exam, craniofacial topics, maxillofacial bone grafting for dental implants, orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial trauma, head and neck infections, anesthesia, and the surgical management of medically complex patients. Additionally, he teaches courses in Anatomy, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, and Anesthesia Emergency Management.
Dr. Johnson is the proud recipient of the Bernard Levine Teacher of the Year Award.
Dr. Johnson spends his free time with family and friends. He resides in Guilford and Westbrook, CT with his wife and three children.
